The responses were thorough, detailed and outlined exactly the steps I needed to complete to receive the desired solutions. They were responses you couldn’t think of rating less than a 10.
Excellent work as usual from the support team and special kudos to Matthew I for the best responses I’ve seen in the five years I’ve been an HG customer.

Reviewed on December 30th, 2009 Find moreOf the dozen or so web hosting companies I’ve dealt with over the years – on behalf of clients as well as for my own domains – Host Gator has been the best, bar none. The services are of course reliable and competitive and I’m delighted with the value I get. But it is the Support dept. in particular that shines. I have called upon them a number of times on a VERY wide range of topics and issues, and I have never experienced any assistance that rated lower than an 8/10. I have never come away “empty-handed” from a single call – I’ve always got the issue resolved or a clear understanding of the matter.
And support staff are quite frankly helpful above and beyond the call of duty. I recently deployed a few CMS websites (drupal) for the first time and Host Gator tech staff helped me sort out some things that were definitely outside the realm of what could be expected from the web host.
At the risk of long-windedness, I’ve also browsed through Host Gator’s Customer Reviews forum to see what complaints and negative reviews were concerned with. They tend to reflect “shortcomings” on the part of the customer, not HG staff (like the fellow who didn’t seem to grasp the difference between domain HOSTING and domain REGISTRATION and thought “unlimited domains” entitled him to both). Again I’m impressed with the patience and indulgence extended to even the most trying of complainers – above and beyond…
In summary: I’ve always been able to access support quickly, staff have always been responsive and supportive, and the help I’ve received has always been what I needed – and sometimes more than I expected. And I have never experienced the indifference and being palmed off by inadequate support staff that has occurred at times elsewhere. Man I love this company! Keep doing what you’re doing Host Gator.

My new VPS is fast, the tutorials are excellent, the software is up to date, and…this is HUGE…it just passed PCI – with zero pain on my end. Still can’t quite believe it. A big shout out to the ticket support staff. They were fast, competent, responsive, clear. I have never had issues resolved so promptly and professionally.

I moved because HostGator was about 50% of the cost and could only hope that the service would be satisfactory. I use DotNetNuke almost exclusively and was leaving a company that specialized in that software.
As migrations issues came up, the HostGator team has been absolutely superb in quick response time and great answers. Issues are solved in one try and their depth of knowledge seems to span every facet of hosting from domains, to email, to SQL server, to .Net. I have been impressed with a service level that I could only dream about from my former hosting provider. I would recommend HostGator to anyone.

Reviewed on December 24th, 2009 Find moreI have never had a problem with my website due to HostGator: My problems are always problems due to my own incompetence , which I always find out after many hours of research and finally getting passed my stubbornness and going to the HostGator staff.
I’ve been working with websites hosted on HostGator off and on for coming up on 2? years now. I even recommend HostGator to others .
Go HostGator!
I can just imagine a bunch of ‘gators in a server farm . . . .

Hostgator Review by conceptskateboarding – Very misleading with prices E.G. weekly backups
Reviewed on December 17th, 2009 Find moreI have been a HostGator customer for over a year now and overall the experience has been great. The problem is your website is very misleading with what’s included and what costs extra. Only a few months ago I made a complaint about private SSL’s saying ‘included’. That was later changed to ‘available’ once I brought up the issue.
Now just yesterday one of my customers lost some of his files. I requested a weekly backup only to find out it costs $15 per backup! This wouldn’t be a problem if you weren’t misleading about the price. Here is what your reseller page says:
Award Winning Support..
* – Automatic Weekly Off-Site Data Backup
You have no mention about it costing $15 extra to request each backup.
I ask kindly that you change this to prevent misleading anyone else.

Hostgator Review by blank – left HG for a month, had to come back!
Reviewed on December 15th, 2009 Find moreI left HostGator last month. Mainly due to the hostgator error pages, that we don’t even have the option to opt out of, so we have to override with .htaccess (annoying).
So i left and went to NameCheap hosting, and it was horrible!
My site was so slow there. PHP is especially slow. There was a huge amount of lag between the time you click a link, to the time it loads, and i just couldnt stand it. The last week i was with them, the site just didnt load at all. They even moved my account to a different server in a different datacenter, and it still didnt work.I had absolutely zero downtime with hostgator that i can remember. It’s fast, and i love it, besides the forced error page ads (i hope that give us the option for that eventually.)
But i love the speed, and stability of HostGator, and like i said, my only problem are the forced error page ads, and such, and i’ll have to get used to it til i find another host that is as fast, and stable as HostGator (which may be a looong while).
