Reviewed on September 30th, 2008 Find moreAnd once again I have an issue with Support. I am raising new issue as I feel it apporiate that the Support Staff actually read the tickets correctly, as they have not done in this instance.
This is in relation to Ticket ID: KCA-2991925
I requested a complete site reset for security and other reasons. And in the ticket I clearly stated, and I quote:
Now, the site has been reset, perfect. But they changed the password, and now the password can not be changed within my cPanel. I have had to reply to the ticket AGAIN to get try to get my old password back, and this would not have been the case if Support would have read the ticket correctly in the first place.

Reviewed on September 27th, 2008 Find moreI have been buying hosting since 1994 and some would call me an internet dinosaur, probably accurate. I have been around since before the internet existed and started my computer experience with Radio Shack´s TRS-80 just for those of you who remember what that was like.
My experience spans over 100 hosting companies over the years, I tried several just for fun, it’s always been a hobby of mine. Things we take for granted now, bandwidth for one, used to be very costly, it amazes me how much hostgator gives for so little. Yes I know, it’s shared hosting but they really do look out for their customers by keeping the resource hogs at bay and for my money it could not have been better spent.
If your looking for a cost effective, reliable, caring company then you have come to the right place. I have come to one certainty over the years and that is that not one out there is perfect. Hostgator has come as close to perfect as I have found.
They are easy on the wallet and are extremely reliable. I have not experienced any downtime in 6 months much to their credit. Server speeds are incredibly fast even on the shared servers. CPU use is low enough on the shared plans to make them attractive as well. Lot’s of unlimited features that you would pay extra for elsewhere.
I have not found anything negative to report but I would have said so if I had. I have used the support system 2 times, once for a mess I made with my paypal payment, lol, yeah they fixed it for me and with great speed. The other ticket was to ask to be placed into certain group for using a special kind of cron usage. Both times I had answers within a few hours and they took care of me.
Welp, I hope that helps in your own decision as to whether or not to use hostgator, for me I can’t see going anywhere else.

Reviewed on September 25th, 2008 Find moreI wanted to reply to a thread in here, actually defending the hosts who, up to now, have been 100% supportive to me but apparently it says I do not have permission to reply to a thread, only open one? I sent a pm to an administrator, but got no reply.
Customers must remember one major factor in here. I came here from a host who only had possibly 2-300 site owners. Support was excellent and quite prompt, no hassle with that. But, this host has what? 1.5 million members????
Even the best support structure in the world is going to take a little time to get around to solving everything. I am prepared to wait that little bit longer knowing the situation. Up to now, Hostgator support has been fast to answer any query I have had.
Only yesterday I had an sql problem, it was resolved in a matter of, what, less than an hour? Thats fine by me.
On the other hand, I get the impression Support has been a bit offhanded with one, or two. Sorry but thats not on in my book.

Although in liveperson you had the option to give your domain name? Although I don’t think any of you saw what we put maybe being able to include that so someone can assist you better may be an option?? Just a thought as I hate being told what I want to do will violate the T&C’s. Then I explain I’m on a dedicated server!!! lol

Phone hold times not even enough to mention, live chat, quick and easy. I am totally satisfied with the technical expertise and customer service I have received. I have decided to upgrade my account and that is currently underway. One thing that caught my eye about hostgator is I noticed the CEO himself posts to his customers in the blog and someone correct me if I’m wrong but also see GatorBrent posting here in the forum. If this is the same Brent (CEO) I find that quite impressive that he cares enough to get into the trenches, and provide some quality control and good old fashion customer service. I have to say, that for the small amount of money I am spending per month, the overall service far exceeds what they are getting from me. I have dealt with so many different sales and support techs, and have not had one single bad experience. I’m getting way more than I’m paying for thats for sure! (Please don’t up the rates!)
