Hostgator Review by Riverspirit – New to Gator and Happy So Far
Reviewed on February 28th, 2008 Find moreI signed up yesterday and although there are a few minor challenges in switching things over, I have to say I’m impressed with the support. I’ve contacted chat about six times today and each time, I was connected within a minute or two. My tickets are being answered within six to eight hours.
There was a little miscommunication, but that was due to my not communicating clearly on what I needed. I’m new and don’t know the terminology for things. But they were patient with me and hung in there until I was satisfied.
I give thumbs up to Gator. Hopefully my current situation will get cleared up so I can get busy building.
This is very different than other hosting package I had elsewhere, so getting used to something new can be frustrating at times.

Hostgator Review by 360evo9 – Service Is Great
Reviewed on February 27th, 2008 Find moreI have used HostGator for various projects over the years. HostGator is great as normally it is easy to setup and cheap prices. I do web design and programming, I generally have clients switch or setup with HostGator since the prices are normally cheaper then what they use.
I have yet to need support for any accounts until last night whenever a new client signed up (Paid 3 years ahead and I don’t bother with the affiliate program).
First the account wasn’t setup correctly, supposedly since the password was too similar to the username, however the details that were mailed weren’t even the correct server. I spent 45 minutes on the phone until being told to submit a ticket, finally they had to reset things up and give me the correct server information. Whenever techs were replying to the ticket, I felt as if they read one sentence of the ticket and spouted off a response. Finally after several random responses back and forth, it finally got solved. One of the big issues I had with this, if the client had setup the DNS info that I was given, their domain would have been unresolvable for 24-48 hours if not more. (Ticket Reference: DBH-2460107)
Now there is a new issue of trying to get html files to parse as php. I tried the normal htaccess commands with no progress. So I reviewed the forum and followed the cPanel instructions, again no progress. So I went on the online chat for 45 minutes with no progress, then was told to open a ticket. The response I got on support ticket is that I had to use the “real url” not the temp url to use php5. Yet I can use php just fine using the temp url….I have still yet to get a resolution on this…I am waiting in limbo with random responses that have nothing to do with the problem at hand. (Ticket Reference: DHH-2461807)
So in closing…HostGator has GREAT and reliable service…Yet their support…The thing that HostGator harps on having the best of…In my opinion…Really sucks…I have worked at several datacenters and have a background in the webhosting industry. The responses I got in the support tickets and phone calls were so far off base of the actual answer that I am baffled.
Will I continue to use and recommend HostGator? Yeah, I just hope the client or I don’t have any support issues…

Hostgator Review by Cisco – HostGator Initial Impressions – 10/10
Reviewed on February 24th, 2008 Find moreI recently switched over to HostGator after a horrific experience with HostNine. I ended up leaving HostNine after a period of downtime followed by one of their employees making strange demands of me in exchange for downtime credit. That incident and their snotty staff, overloaded servers, and inadequate WHM replacement resulted in me looking for a new host. After reading some positive reviews of HostGator on WHT I decided to give them a try.

Hostgator Review by gomp – I’m Back!
Reviewed on February 23rd, 2008 Find moreI’m a “new” customer under a new domain with HG and I’m VERY excited to get things going. I was previously with HG as a reseller and loved everything about it, from the supplied applications to the tech support and customer service. Great Prices and Great service. Unfortunately I could not keep my old site going for personal reasons but alas those reasons are gone and without even thinking I’ve come back to HG!
I’ve opened a new account, but the site is not activated yet due to Paypal, one thing I noticed differently already was a phone call from HG discussing issues with my domain and how it won’t be activated until Paypal goes through. The impression I got from that was incredible! Thank you so much for calling and letting me know, I was pretty sure that was the reason why it hadn’t been reserved yet but having that reassurance is awesome. (Just got my cellphone too, and HG is the first people to ever call it… I have no life. lol)
Anyway, thanks again! I’m sure that once paypal goes through, everything will go just as smooth as previously! I just hope no one swipes up my domain before paypal goes through.
… I’m thinking I should move to Houston and apply for a job at HG. That’d be sweeeeet.
