HostGator Small TOS Update.
Reviewed on December 31st, 2007 Find moreWe have updated the section 7b (Inode usage) in our terms of service. It has come to our attention that some clients are getting worried their account will be suspended due using more then 50,000 Inodes. We DO NOT suspend our clients for inode usage unless they cause problems with our file system, or constantly deleting and recreating large amounts of files which causes high IO usage.

Hostgator Review by tcekilla – Great Server
Reviewed on December 31st, 2007 Find moreThis is by far the greatest host I have been with, and I have been with a few. The support here is excellent, I am running with the Swamp Gator, very kind people run this and I am glad to be apart of it. They have done things for me I didn’t have a clue how to do, and I appreciate the very good support I have received here. Only thing being is, is that I have changed my domain name to something smaller with your web hosting server, from a longer domain (using your server in the first place) to a shorter domain (using your server still), but you keep telling me that I have to direct my new domain name to my nameserver…. I keep telling you I don’t have a clue how to do it and you keep replying with a link that doesn’t give me anymore information on how to do it than what you was telling me in the first place. On this link, it also says, you will do it for me if I purchased the domain name from you (which I did), if you purchased somewhere else, I would have to do it myself. I’m sorry, I am quite a newbie with all this. I had such a great forum, lots and lots of stuff I had done to it and all I wanted was to simply change my domain name. Like I said, I am not taking credit away from this great web server and such nice people and good support, it’s just I am not getting anywhere with my domain changing, I wish I had never done it.

Hostgator Review by Koni – Great new home!!
Reviewed on December 31st, 2007 Find moreFinally got all moved into my reseller account and all is working very well. Have been a reseller with a few other hosts and so far HostGator beats them all.
Left the previous host because of very poor service, very poor server performance and lack of server/progam updates.
This is my first reseller hosting account that uses WHM and Cpanel, so it took me a while to learn and get used to it. Moved all my client sites one by one which it took some time.
Whenever I had a question or issue, HostGator support was very helpful and responsive, usually responding to tickets withing 2 hours or less. This was in stark contrast to my previous host.

Hostgator Review by jmprich – Customer support
Reviewed on December 31st, 2007 Find moreI just wanted to leave some feedback for the excellent customer support I received via the online chat. I missed the link to leave feedback, but I have to say thanks to Chad D for helping me out with my issue. I made a stupid mistake when signing up, and Chad helped me get the issue resolved. Thanks for the great (and very fast) service Hostgator.

Almost 48 hours later and only 3/30 accounts are restored and i can`t access my accounts trought WHM. In the support ticket they say that all the sites are restored (lol)I`m a little disappointed with HostGator…

Hostgator Review by letoutpuissant – My Short Year Review
Reviewed on December 30th, 2007 Find moreMy year hosting package is up in a few days and I am writing a review like others, to express both what I found was great with HostGator and what I didn’t like.
Unfortunately I will not be continuing my hosting service with them.
I’ve never had a problem with downtime whatsoever, always loved the interface with cPanel and the support was always great when I needed help.
In all honesty the real reason I am leaving HostGator is their lack of will to take care of their current customers when their plans are nearing the end and they want to renew.
I may have a unique situation but regardless, a company that bases themselves so highly on their customer service, yet won’t strike a deal with current customers is beyond belief.
My problem is that I am going to need to upgrade my hosting plan, simply because I need to add another domain. I sold one site and picked up 2 and now because the hatchling plan only supports 1 domain, I must upgrade. I have no problem with that. The main problem is that regardless if you pay for a month or a year, it’s $9.95. Probably a reasonable price if you aren’t tight on finances, but as a college student, that’s the life I live.
It’s ridiculous that they offer the 20% off SNOWMAN deal on the main page of the site, yet it is for new customers only. You can find this out by talking to any sales agent, yet it says no where on the site that it is for new customers. They base it on this purely because the only place to activate this code is registering a new account, not upgrading your existing account, or not when it renews (according to two different sales reps). You could still activate the code with by opening up a new account but thats fraudulent and I’m not an a-hole. Plus I have no doubt you’d get caught anyway.
I know I may sound like a complete baby complaining over $24 ($119.40 normal, $95.52 reduced) but that is definitely a substantial amount of money for me when I have to count every little piece coming in from my site (not much) and having to live and pay tuition.
I understand running a business and all, but another part of running your business is keeping your customers. HostGator was great while it lasted, but their reluctance to take care of current customer renewals is pretty upsetting. They should keep in mind that money does matter to some, even when it is so little.
