I joined on November 28, 2006 because my second host, Fasthosts Ltd, just got worse and worse. To give you an idea, it took many attempts to download a db backup from phpBB. Plenty of troubles, pages hardly loading, support kind but unhelpful.
So I searched on WHT and firstly I went to live chat for pre sales questions. Staff was very kind, friendly and honest. Transparency, that’s what FH missed. The decision was made within days. DNS updated very quickly (one day or so).

About an hour ago, I purchased my Baby croc hosting account. Paid and received a payment confirmation. They said my account will be setup within a few minutes and that I’ll be notified by e-mail including my login information.
A few minutes later, I received a “welcome to HostGator family” e-mail, and that my account was setup successfully. The e-mail included my login information.
Logged on to my account (cPanel).
A minute later (while I was browsing my new account), I got a password popup box. I attempted to login several times but it did not work.

Reviewed on September 18th, 2007 Find moreI won’t mention any names but my previous host (well known, usually comes up top 10 in so-called best web hosting company) has gone downhill ever since their wonderful upgrade and constant updates. No matter what I did, even after moving across the country that’s supposedly not too far away from the server location made just things worse.
I had to search around quite a bit in fact, reading reviews, asking various forums and finding some non-biased reviews about Host Gator’s service, I was convinced I wanted to make the change. What kept me from switching for the longest time was not knowing what to expect when switching a domain with four other parked domains, along with all the files including my e-commerce site I was just building.
Host Gator basically made it painless and walked me through every time I had a problem. I chatted with them at least 10 times, called once and created three different tickets. All were answered within minutes, the support tickets were resolved within the same day and accessing the sites, updating and looking at them from various location has made me a very happy customer.

Reviewed on September 14th, 2007 Find moreI’m in the midst of working on a domain transfer TO Host Gator to add onto my current account… FROM Shieldhost.com. They are the biggest hosting joke, honestly I don’t know if they actually have someone handling issues.
Back when I signed up with them there weren’t any real reviews on their service but holy crap since then I’m the latest in a line of MANY bad reviews on them via reviews websites.
Host Gator has always emailed back when I had a question within a couple hours at most, where I never get replies from Shieldhost. Just trying to get MORE word out to inform people of the joke that is Shieldhost.

Anytime I run into a problem, the staff here responds to my tickets right away. They are very friendly and promt.
I run a online Tv network, using the Swamp Package, and I have to say what a great job hostgator has done here. Very fast server and zero downtime.
I use google to host all my videos, but it looks like hostgator works with everything and I have to just say, I hope Hostgator keeps up the good work and continues improving. -

Now they are basically unobtainable as they will rarely load at all.
First response was “we can see them,must be alright,”when I point out that my ISP cannot access them either and state there is a problem with the server at Hostgator I do get a reply saying yes there is an issue.24 hours later with nothing further from support and the fault still persists.
