  • Hostgator Review by tw12lve – Dedicated Review

So i’ve been with HG for about 6 months now. I started with the bottom package, then upgraded, then upgraded, then went with a dedicated. Each upgrade HG took care of everything and made it easy.

I’ve had a good experience with the support, both with the ticket system and in the live support. They are really quick to take care of problems, or just field a question when you need it. They also have people who know what they’re talking about on the support team, so you don’t get “We’ll look into it” as a reply, but an actual explanation.

It seems that some people complain about the shared hosting, but what do you expect from having to share your server with a bunch of people? If you are serious about stability and security, then you have to go dedicated. With that, I’ve found HG is dedicated to being a great service at a really good price. They even offer a cheaper price than the datacenter they use (in my case, theplanet)

Anyhoo, I’ve enjoyed my service thus-far. I would recommend HG to anyone looking at dedicated hosting at a good price.

  • Hostgator Review by dlefik27 – Refund was fully honored

Reviewed on November 19th, 2006 webhost Find more

Actually here’s the story. I joined hostgator on october 20,2006 with the swamp account. I ended up cacelling my account 5 days later afte ri realized i was not really in need of this. nothing to do with hostgator. however this is where the real problem lies. i cancelled my account through their ticket system and even received a confirmation number stating i had cancelled. now, i remember their policy is you get your refund if you cancel within 30 days. well i was way before that. now i called them after cancelling online to confirm i would get my refund and the guy i spoke to told me that that was their policy and i would get it back. well here it is november 19,2006 and still no refund. so i called them this morning and spoke to a guy named ricardo. he told me something that made me laugh. he asked me for my ticket-ID and i gave it to him. he then told me to go ahead and reply to the email i got stating i wanted the refund. now, wtf. why should i have to respond to that email when i cancelled the service and told them i want my money back. then he proceeded to tell me that they only give refunds on the customers request. now why do you think i cancelle dthe service within 5 days? you think i just cancelled to tell you to keep my money? well i was starting to get this feeling i was about to get tossed into a bad runaround and told him flat out i want it resolved right here while im on the phone. he had me sitting there for a few minutes while he pecked away at a keyboard and said you’re good now. that was it, he was real quiet and not very friendly but not really rude. so i get this feeling it’s gonna be another little runaround. he told me it should take like 1-2 days tops but i have this gut feeling it aint coming and im gonna have to call back again for more excuses as to why i cant get my refund. well, the moral of the story is this. if you join the service, thats great. but just hope you dont have to cancel within your first 30 days cuz you just may never get that refund.

  • Hostgator Review by joanne – I recommend Hostagtor

Reviewed on November 19th, 2006 webhost Find more

I recommend Hostgator after being with several other hosts. I have been here for about 8 months and had a 10 minute downtime for the first time the other day. (Not one of my clients noticed but that was probably pure chance!) I have a number of clients who need a good service and I have always tried to search for a good host. It is hard to run a business when you have clients calling continuously with “site down” and “can’t send mail” problems Many of these hosts start off good and often, due to very reduced prices, as the servers fill up the problems start, and the support diminishes.
Hostgator is not the cheapest by all means but the little extra is well worth it. Obviously there will be hitches from time to time, this is normal when working with a lot of hardware and software, but things seem to get sorted at a reasonable time and there is always someone there in support or chat. I have not had the need to use the phone line so I can’t comment on that service (but how many hosts give you a phone to ring??)
I am planning to stay here for as long as my business lasts, which is growing nicely. That is, if all stays well.

  • Hostgator Solara custom Email filter

Reviewed on November 9th, 2006 webhost Find more

Currently, solara, is blocking attachments that are in .zip format. This is a temporary measure. The block should be removed within a couple of days. Someone’s clients are infected with a virus that is causing the server to continuously be blacklisted.
