Host Gator Web Host Expands and Opens Canadian Office
Reviewed on June 29th, 2006 Find moreHost Gator, a leading provider of shared, dedicated and reseller web hosting, announced today it will open a new subsidiary in Toronto, Canada. The Canadian operations will be the company’s first subsidiary supporting the company’s headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida.
Host Gator Canada will handle both general administrative tasks in addition to support tickets originating out of the US offices in Boca Raton. Approximately a dozen technical system administrations will be working out of the Toronto office by the end of the year. All staff will become direct employees of the company and no sub-contracted workers will be hired.
“Host Gator’s expansion to Canada is a major milestone in our company’s history,” said Brent Oxley, President of Host Gator. “The company has grown rapidly and we felt it was necessary to expand our administrative and technical support infrastructure in order to maintain the level of service our customers are accustomed to.”
A new office was required because of the difficulty in finding technically skilled employees in the Boca Raton area. Host Gator posted an ad for the system administrator position on Craigslist for the Toronto area that quickly attracted more than 60 applications.
“We have had many qualified admins apply from Canada as well as other countries, but because of US laws it’s not easy to get them working here in the United States,” said Oxley. “With our Canadian offices, it will be easier for us to hire from this abundant talent pool and have them work directly out of our office, avoiding the complicated process of securing work visas for international talent.”

Hostgator Review by ritey – New customer, happy
Reviewed on June 29th, 2006 Find moreI find the speed of my webserver excellent and compares really well against english servers. And considering i get a ping of more than treble with US server id say thats damn good. I wouldnt even know i was using an american host except for the $ sign.
No hidden costs or marketing scams.
And support and been fantastic.
Liked what i found so quick i upgraded to reseller within 2 days.
Gotta say TimW has helped me loads. Even when i messed things up with spelling my email address wrong. Got things sorted straight the way.
Nice to deal with support ppl that want to help instead of just wanting to close a ticket.

Hostgator Review by jkmcgrath – 1 Week Review
Reviewed on June 26th, 2006 Find moreI wanted to take the time and share my intial experience with Hostgator as a hosting company.
Hostgator is with out a doubt the best I have used to date.
* Support
o Tickets answered in < 4 hrs generaly
o Issue resolved first time around
o Knowledge base needs more info
* Performance
o HTTP response Speed is unbelievable
o MySQL/phpmyadmin handles large chunks of data
o FTP is more than adequate
* CPANEL
o Ver 10 and it works!Having tried, Ipower (3 years), Godaddy(2 days they suck so bad), Directnic(5 years) and had performance and support issues with all 3, Hostgator is a divine change.
The ease with which I moved my site to Hostgator is unblievable! Everything worked as advertised and more. The last move I made from server to server with in Ipower, took days because Ipowers service and support is so poor. Godaddy, forget it, they are slower than Ipower on the backend and thats SLOW. Directnic is too parinoid to allow anything to run but overall they are a decent hosting service.
Glad I found Hostgator, I think I have a permanent home.
You guys rock and understand that in todays world, the better mouse trap is backing up what you sell. Theres none better than Hostgator.

HostGator Review by Danny_G
Reviewed on June 25th, 2006 Find moreA couple of months ago, I decided to start hosting again after a small break. I did a lot of looking around here, and eventually concluded HostGator would be my best option.
I went to their site, which is very easy to navigate and within minutes was signed up to one of their packages and was ready to go.
The only negative thing I can really say is that the cPanel can sometimes be slow to load, but i’ve never used cPanel before so I don’t know if this is the general case with all cPanel’s.
My server has NEVER been down as far as I can tell (I can’t monitor it 24 hours a day after all). Live chat support has always been available, professional and quick to respond (which is more than I can say for the Live Chat of a previous Dedicated Server host…). My websites always load fast, and I get capped out download speeds even though I live in the UK and my servers hosted in the USA.
Overall HostGator seem top notch and have done me well since day 1. I’d definitely reccommend them.
