Hostgator Review by Kostas – Great service
Reviewed on January 28th, 2006 Find moreYour support staff is solid platinum.
Calling them golden is an insult to their dedication, knowledge, and helpfulness. Simply put they are the best I have ever dealt with.
Rather than brush off a question, they are actually interested in solving it.
Doing research if necessary and coming up with a solution.

Hostgator Review by easydoesit – Host Gator cool with me
Reviewed on January 24th, 2006 Find moreI loved my tenure with Host Gator because they gave me the most out of my money. Before Host Gator, I was hosted with AddAction and my site was constantly being suspended due to too many MySQL connections and other PHP script problems, which were never definetly solved.
I come here and I have no problems. I’ve never really needed support besides to ask a few questions about customizing plans/and/or upgrading.
I wish the bandwidth on the shared plans were a little higher, but then again, they probably wouldn’t belong on a shared environment anymore would they?
My sites uptime looks like this:
Since: August 19, 2005
Outages: 18
Total Uptime: 99.089% -

I fully recommend them to anyone and I already sent one customer to themAnd sorry i’m no good at reviews, but HG are fantastic.

Hostgator Review by ShelbyGuy – HG? A Keeper For Sure!
Reviewed on January 23rd, 2006 Find moreWhat a pleasure it is to write this!
At this time I have been with HG for over 4-months. I have had near perfect experience so far. I love this forum, as it is a great place for answers and updates (the people here are friendly too – most of ‘em anyway). Oh, you can learn a ton of things here too!
The management is very helpful on technical issues and I have not read anything in the forums where a customer was talked-down to, or in any way made to feel uncomfortable. The people you are dealing with at HG are true professionals.
I have done my homework and all things said, you’ll be hard-pressed to do better than Host Gator! I have found better prices with other providers who of course say they are the best, but in truth the hardware sucks, they over-sell and the support is just horrible. HG seems to really care about the customer (they know who butters their bread). HG will of course have issues at times, as do we (people) and as will any other host.
I have been hosting websites with good and bad hosts since 1997, so I know what I am talking about; when I run in to services like HG, I know they are a keeper!

Hostgator Review by ltrump – Hostgator for President??
Reviewed on January 23rd, 2006 Find moreI signed up for a reseller account in October. Not really to run a business, but more to provide hosting to my friends that wanted to start a website. I really havent had any problems. I installed a site monitoring tool to monitor how often my sites had gone down, and I have only noticed 1 outage in December. As far as I could tell, it was down for less than an hour (only because thats how often SiteUptime checks.
I have had to use the support team only twice (once was for some stupid question, and the other was to upgrade my aluminum plan to the copper plan). Both instances were flawless.
HostGator has to be the best hosting company that I have ever dealt with. I am now starting to think seriously about “reselling” so that maybe I can make a little bit of money on the side.
Hopefully one day, I will have enough customers, that I can move to a dedicated server. But thats only dreams at this point.

Hostgator Review by jeepxj86 – About a month
Reviewed on January 22nd, 2006 Find moreWell…. This is what I have to say about HostGator.
There prices are awesome for what they provide! I currently have 70GB of bandwidth a month. They have all the sripting languages I need.
There uptime is not very good, I had my site down the whole nite I also found it down during the day (about 10 min of downtime) That usually happens every 3 days.
There support seems to have bad reading skills. They seem to skim over the email just to get a reply and not worry about what is wrong and what has happened. I got an email back from one of the many support team members and was told that the one page was working fine. To bad i knew that, maybe the fact that it wasnt working the way it was supposed to, as I stated in the one email. I was told to switch two files which I did and it fixed nothing.
All in all, host gator is good for small time websites if you don’t mind less than 99% uptime or “excellent” support team. If your going to run a company website HostGator MAY not be the best option for you

Hostgator Review by Yari Gio – SSL and Ecommerce
Reviewed on January 19th, 2006 Find moreI’m very new to the reseller community and have recently purchased a aluminum plan. One of the key things I’m planning to do is setup e-commerce sites, and I noticed that the plan I was buying came with a shared SSL certificate. http://www.hostgator.com/resellers.shtml (check under the heading: All accounts will have the below E-Commerce Features…)
Not knowing the full what complications come with a shared certificate (vr. a private one) I clicked on the ? button next to (shared SSL) and the information I got form that was basically what I thought. I even talked to a sale rep and was told a shared certificate basically means that unlike a private one, for the shopping cart to lead to a secure address the url would end up being something like https://secureblah.websitewelcome.co…myshoppingcart. I was told that would work perfectly with my shopping cart system and that it was fully secure. I did not think that would be a problem for my clients, being that they would be lead to that url by “checking out” and they probably would not even notice.
So after purchasing the account I setup a shopping cart and figured out my secure path (which by the way is not in the list, my secure path is “https://secure81.websitewelcome.com/~usernamehere/” which is not even listed on the shared ssl page (http://www.hostgator.com/sharedssl.shtml). Any how, i set everything up and bumm my cart worked perfectly, it would switch in and out of the secure and unsecure url with only one problem, that problem being that I would get a popup telling me that I was accessing an untrusted site, but that the ssl cert was valid. I figured that had something to do with my browser or something so I did not care.
