  • Hostgator Review by jasond – Good deal

I have been with hostgator now since endore died back about a year ago. Their service has been very reliable and a good bargain for the price. My only negatives with them would be regarding a recent issue I had. An FTP account was compromised and my account was suspended for sending out spam. As it should have been. However, it took 3 days after the issue was resolved for them to unsuspend my account again. I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, however, as this happened right over Thanksgiving and I’m sure their support staff was swamped. As it is, hostgator’s support staff was able to solve my problem before my registrar (Enom) was able to unsuspend the domain! So in the end things worked out. Hostgator has great prices, a good technical service, and good (but not stellar) support. Which is about as much as you can ask for for as little as I’m paying.

  • Host Gator Enhances Disaster Recovery

Reviewed on November 28th, 2005 webhost Find more

Web hosting provider Host Gator (hostgator.com) announced last Friday that it had enhanced its disaster recovery and redundancy plans in response to the increasing frequency of hurricanes in the Florida region.

The changes include additional connectivity for enhanced redundancy, relocation of customer service and administrative functions to facilities designed for hurricane protection, additional power generators and gas reserves and continued maintenance of off-site backup. Customer service staff will remain in place on a 24-hour basis during any future hurricanes, the company says.

“We’re pleased to say that Host Gator made it through the recent hurricane season without any disruptions to our customers’ uptime,” says Brent Oxley, president of Host Gator. “The dedication of our staff members to our clients was impressive to say the least during Hurricane Wilma. One of our employees narrowly avoided having his car crushed by a tree, while another employee had his truck door snapped off the hinges due to the high winds.”

Host Gator is based in Boca Raton, Florida and has data center operations in Texas.

  • Hostgator Review by Defiance – Two Thumbs Up

Reviewed on November 28th, 2005 webhost Find more

I’m still pretty new hosting with HostGator. I’ll do my best to post my progresss now and will add another review in a few months or so. I transfered three of my domains from my old host. The transfer went pretty good. There where a few small issue but after a ticket or two everything was fixed. Since my one site (www.247xtreme.com) I transfered had a LOT of mySQL issues and numerious pingponging tickets Brent stepped in. We talked on the phone about some options to better suit my needs. It was decided to transfer 247xtreme.com to a Semi Dedicated plan. This transfer took place over the weekened. Everythign went smooth on the transfer besides the mySQL server was a diffrent version so none of my site worked. After a few tickets Brent stepepd in once again . As I’m typing this the box is being upgraded and fixed. Once this is done im sure everything will work out good. Overall I have to say Brent was the BEST is helping me and I would recommened his services to my friends due to his dedication in helping the customer when his support techs can not.

Still no complaints.. In fact I can’t even remember the last time I’ve had some sort of a problem / downtime..

So even as the company grows, it’s nice to know that it’s not affecting those of us already here..

keep up the good work guys..

  • Hostgator Review by mike123 – review after 2 month of service

Reviewed on November 22nd, 2005 webhost Find more

I switched to this host because I need it more speed in execution of PHP/MySql and more network reliability.

    Simple thoughts,hard to achive.
The server I am hosted is way overloaded sometimes(It has at least 800 domains, but this might be ok, if there are light users..) and so far I had over 2 hours of total downtime(the longest being over 30min).

It’s quite simple, some process hogs the whole server, and the sites timeout, most of the time php pages, but NOT only.
The monitoring tools in place are useless,as ALL the time I HAVE to tell them that something is wrong with THEIR server.

The response time for tickets is ussualy very good, but worthless in log term, as they fix the problem without looking at the root/cause.

I have been with hostgator for more than one year and the first thing I can say is ‘EXCELLENT SUPPORT’

They answer my 103 943 questions requested by email, support center or live help on the site.

I have a reseller account and I don’t plan to go anywhere for this type of services.

The only thing you have to keep is mind is nobody is perfect, servers can break down once in their lifetime, network problem can surge from nowhere, but what you have to keep in mind is that they will always answer your questions and be there to support you and your website.
