    As a reseller trying to build a small business, I need to try to resolve my customer requests. I had been asked by 1 customer if I could supply instructions for installing E107 (www.e107.org) to a domain.

    This isn’t really a problem but as E107 is (in my opinion) either “the” or “one of the” best CMS’ on the market I thought it would be good to have this as a script in Cpanel for ALL hostgator customers.

    so……

    20 August 2005 10:13 – I recieved a phone call from my customer enquiring about a CMS. E107 is what they prefered.

    20 August 2005 10:16 (UK time) – I sent an email to support@hostgator.com requesting E107 added for installation through cpanel.

    20 August 2005 10:16 (UK time) – Confirmation email giving me a reference number for my request

    I’ve been a customer for a couple of months now and the service has been very good.

    However, when I signed up I was sold on a larger plan than I needed (Swamp) because I was told that Baby doesnt support Javascript.

    This turned out to be wrong. Baby doesn’t support JSP which is very different.

    Now, I’m trying to downgrade to Baby and am being hit with a downgrade fee.

    I was told when I signed up that I can upgrade/downgrade at any time. I was not told of a fee.

    This is just wrong !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I can’t believe I have to watch my pockets with these guys. Turned out to be shady after all.

  • Hostgator Review by MachineDog – Just puttin’ my two cents in

    I’ve been with HostGator for almost 2 months now and I’ve been happy every step of the way. Hit some minor bumps with the private Name Servers about a week ago but, that was solved within the hour. Besides for that their chat support has been awesome and all of my questions have been answered promptly. Unfortunately I’ll be leaving in about a month and I’ll be moving my hosting business to The Planet for expansion. I’ll be keeping HostGators’s philosophy the entire time. I have to say the support is wonderful and I’ll miss the forums. For everyone, the only reason I’m moving to The Planet is for their dedicated servers. Although HostGator’s dedicated servers are great, I won’t need a managed server because I can easily manage it myself and I’ll need to cut the costs a bit to make my hosting more affordable. I hope to get my business to be just the same as HostGator’s some day. Efficient, reliable, and Friendly.

  • Hostgator Review by c12 – PROBLEMS!!! Site will not Publish

    I’ve been with Host Gator nearly a year with few problems. However 5 days ago I began experiencing a problem when trying to publish my site; Site Studio stalls out in the publishing phase, so I’ve been unable to publish changes for 5 days.
    Over the weekend I received similar responses from the following representatives: Brent, Steve, Mark, Ana, Nicole and Shane, most asking me to uninstall and reinstall the frontpage extensions, which did not help; and a couple which just asked if I was still having the same problem and offering warm regards.
    I finally had to call them directly, at which point they upgraded the issue and moved it to the system administrator. At this point, on the 6th day since the problem arose and was reported to hostgator technical support, my site is still not publishing. I can update it in Site Studio, and my changes are saved, but it will not publish.

    As I am sure you have all seen already, we have changed the site at www.hostgator.com to a new sleek and more modern design. There are still a few pages that have not been completely updated but they should be finished within the next 24 hours. (Including the forums!)

    Having the same password as username will get you hacked 100% of time.Here are other real bad ones…….

    password, jordan, any type of number combination without a letter, any type of name, And anything that can be found in the dictionary.

  • Hostgator Review by dm1313 – Any reply would be nice

    I’ve only been with HostGator since June and must say everything runs pretty smooth so far. However, last night I tried to log in to support and received an error message that my log in was incorrect. I tried several times with my regular email and an alternate email address…no luck.

    I tried registering for a support account about 5 or 6 times since last night and I’m still waiting for a confirmation code.

    I spoke to someone via Live Help and he couldn’t tell me why I couldn’t log in. I said I wanted to open a trouble ticket and he said to just email support. I emailed them about 15 hours ago and again about 30 minutes ago…still no reply of any kind. The only other time I had a problem, I went through basically the same things and finally had to call, but when I did I was asked for my ticket number which I didn’t have since I have never been able to login to create one. Fortunately, the person I spoke to was able to resolve my problem within minutes.
