Hostgator Review by incred – Incredimail Letters branded Spam
Reviewed on January 24th, 2005 Find moreMy site www.incredimail-letters.co.uk provided an assortment of themed incredimail letters for download, not unlike the other 50,000+ sites around the world, for anyone unfamiliar with incredimail it allows you to add images to the background of an email, its fun, harmless and with over 10 million copies of the Incredimail program sold, its also popular.
I have been creating the background images for over three years and have allowed visitors to my website to download them if they wish. On some of the letters is a small link back to my website to encourage more visitors, some of the letters has the link back to my site from the images themselves not as a text link.
This is where a problem has arisen? Hostgator in their wisdom have deemed this link back to my website as SPAM, they informed me that my site has been used for bulk e-mailing and as a result have suspended my account and informed me that they will no longer host my website.

Hostgator Review by Buckshot – A farwell Review

After being with HostGator since Fall of 2003 and having two different servers with them, my main site can longer live on a shared server. My site was the one that was giving ns9/ns10hostgator server problems earlier this week. The amount of traffic we receive on the forums was too much for the server. Brent suspended my account since I our site crashed the server.
But Brent also let me bring my site back online and he disabled my forum so I could be back online since the forum was the problem.I would rather have the site up without a forum so my site visitors could still visit the site We spoke on the phone about moving my site to one of HostGtaors dedicated servers. Even though I have been happy here at HostGator since 2003, the dedicated price was a little too high for me
Brent could have said no, I am not letting your site back online till we move you to a dedicated server. But he was nice enough to disable the problem and let be back online.
One time since I have been at HostGator have I experience a downtime that did not meet HostGator’s uptime gurantee. Uptime here has been great on both servers. The problem I had the last time I server problems was this week and my site was causing it.

Hostgator Review by programmer – Well, it’s been a month
Reviewed on January 22nd, 2005 Find moreWell, it has been exactly one month since I first signed up with HostGator, and I feel I should make a few comments.
HostGator, if you’ve seen my post on WHT recently, you already know what I think.
Most of the points I can think of about HostGator are positive. They are listed below.
I love the services HostGator provides; they go well beyond any other host.
I love the support; especially e-mail support. I have used live support twice, and was disappointed with it both times. That is alright, though. I have used phone support twice, and was pleased with that.
I’ve had little downtime, except for those incidents over the last two days with the DDOS attacks on Jetta. That was quite annoying, but I know HostGator did their best to bring all the services on Jetta back up. i think Apache was the only service that was not funcitoning properly. -

Reviewed on January 17th, 2005 Find moreoverall, they have been great, especially in responding to support. from a plesk user to a cpanel/whm/autopilot user it was frustrating to say the least. they have been patient and very very helpful
Though I appreciate the quick fixes I would recommend they let the client know what the problem was so it isnt repeated and then can be handled by the client themselves. But when i asked for explanations they were given!
