    my reseller account is one day overdue and my whole account was suspended 1 hr 20 mins ago.

    I had not paid because I don’t use the yahoo mail account from which I ordered by reseller account.

    I’ve emailed billing, and chatted to tech support. Tech support say they can’t do anything and billing have not replied at all.

    I onyl have 22 customer accounts at Hostgator but already 3 have complained such that I’ve had to promise to move them to a different reseller hsoting account.

    I learnt long ago not to have all your customers with one hoster… but really, if billing is 24/7 then they need to re-activate accounts asap otherwise they just alienate their customers.

    What am I supposed to do with all my accounts suspended? Of course, I’m going to change reseller accounts once I get my data files back (oh and remember there are no daily backups on this server but that doesn’t get me a hosting charge discount… pay one day late, however, and you might end up going out of business.

    Suddenly a dedicated hosting server deal looks attractive but then again exactly the same problems could occur. Your service provide needs to be reasonable. How about a warning email just before a reseller account gets suspended?

    In the past, I have not had great success with the live chat operators. This was not a problem because I always had problems fixed through Justin or email support. I just used the live chat and spoke with Monica who was very friendly, she fixed my problem, and let me know when there was going to be an extended time of silence. This is a vast improvement over what I have seen in the past and is a trend that I hope will continue.

    Overall, I have been very pleased with HG service. There were a few kinks but they seem to take customer suggestions to heart and improve the service month after month. Additionally, I appreciate HG’s candor when dealing with customer issues. Even though I have not seen the problems that the people on Jeep or Chrysler have, I can see how they handle problems and I am more than confident that they will be able to handle any problem that arises. This is a LOT more than I can say for my previous hosts.

  • Hostgator Review by chinpdx – Finally – A Web Host that Works!

    Initially I expressed some dissatisfaction with customer service. I also stated at the time I would come back here to post my experience with the hosting in order to be fair. Well, I am here and I intend to stay here. I came over from gisol.com, which I think is the WORST hosting company on the planet. (I am not even sure they ARE on this planet since I have never spoken to a person there!) The customer service issues I had were part my fault and part hostgator’s. But that is in the past, WAS reconciled and since then I have had NO problems with their hosting. I have yet to see my site down or to find my email not working. With gisol.com this was becoming a weekly occurrance. So, hats off to hostgator. I am happy to say I have finally found a reliable hosting company. Incidentally, I have FOUR Web sites so reliability is extremely important to me.

    Just wanted to say hi! I have been with HG for a month now and it has been a great experience so far. Each staff member has always tried to help when questions arise and I am well pleased. I have watched and searched the forums on a daily basis and found them to be helpful in diffrent areas I had questions. Just want to say keep up the good work.

    Ok, I signed up with HG one month ago after a bad experience with my last host and I must say I’ve been very impressed so far. The HG team has helped me every step of the way, answered some of my boneheaded questions with patience and responded cheerfully and expertly to all of my concerns/questions.

    As a reseller, I rely completely on HG to make me look good…and so far I’m the hero in my clients eyes, even though the HG team are the real heros.

    I’ve learned a lot since I started in this business:

    1. Your hosting company is your business’ lifeblood. Treat them well.
    2. Your hosting tech guys/gals put up with a lot of crap. They put in some long, hard hours and go way beyond the call of duty. Treat them well.
    3. Most problems on a shared server are not caused by your hosting company. They are caused by the other resellers clients (or even your own clients). If we only knew half of what went on in the background to keep these servers running smoothly, we probably wouldn’t sleep from the stress.
    4. Never tick off your tech support….especially early in the morning.
    5. Never say anything in a post that you wouldn’t say to someone face-to-face.
    6. It’s completely unrealistic to expect the service to run 100% of the time. I recently tried to visit a major ISP’s website and they were down for about 15 minutes. Who am I to complain when a HG server goes down for a few minutes while they reboot something.

    Anyway, keep up the good work. I’m looking forward to getting to know the HG team better and working on ways that we can all benefit.

    We have tried a few different hosts since we started our business and without a doubt HostGator is the best, most efficient, and helpful host we have came across. We have not had any downtime of our sites that we were not notified in advance about (and even then downtime is minimal). The support is outstanding with so many ways to obtain it, someone is always available to answer any questions you may have. The features they say they offer are really the features they offer, and the price is really what is posted, period.

    In a nutshell HostGator is the best, most affordable host out there!!!
