I am fairly new here and to Hostgator. I can say that my account was promptly setup using paypal. I submit a ticked because my stats and bandwidth wasn’t working. I again very promptly got a reply and a fix within a few minutes. Not bad, impressive actually.

Originally I opted to go with a cheaper host, bad idea very bad. You get what you pay for. The other hosts tech support was little to be desired. They did set my account up fast I’ll give that to them, but within a week after I had been with them, the server got all messed up somehow, I’m still not sure how or what the problem was I never did hear back. Anyway there server goes down, and it stayed down for over 3 days before I cancelled my account there and switched to hostgator. I received no email, no nothing. Their main site went down too, possibly there mail I don’t know. I recently looked at there uptime and it went down 127 times in may. That’s not a type o…it’s 127. Not for a few minutes either I’m talking hours upon end. A week or two later and their forums are still off line, guess they don’t want everyone posting a bunch of complaints or something.

This will be a brief post, but I just wanted to voice my appreciation.

I am a new customer, and registered an account yesterday. Already, I am highly impressed with the level of support from the HostGator team, their profesional behaviour, and polite mannerism in which they delt with me left little to be desired, and my questions were answered promptly, and accuratly.

im new here, just moved yesterday and will provide some info after i have been online with hostgator for at least a few months.

the transfer was smooth and download rates have been excellent thus far.

i’ve been pulling the short straw lately in terms of picking a host for a site that i co-own and the experiences have led me to beleive i might make millions if i try to do it myself…my bsd home system on a dsl line has better uptime than most of the places ive been so im skeptical but willing to accept that im not the only one who believes in excellence.

Well heres my experence so far,

Im managing 2 reseller accounts, one for my self, and one for the company i work for. It quite hand really, it means that i have more time to find my way around.

Its now less that 72 hours from me first registering my personal account, and im all set up! thats right, started promoting!!

the support is exclent, features are exclent.

I only have one complaint, i didnt read the instuctions properly, and made the same mistake on both accounts, now one account i got it fixed after i worked out that was the problem, but live support tell me that that is not the problem with the other account, and wont even undo my mistake to see if it is :s

Well im sure it will get worked out when im back in the office to email support directly like idid my personal account!

Really no complaints. 72 hours from nothing to hosting reseller!

  • Hostgator Review by schapman – very happy but bad experience today

I’ve been experiencing FTP problems for a few days. I kept getting Operation Timed Out errors and have been unable to FTP files. Navigating from one directory to another takes a very long time. I have tried a few different FTP programs, and experience the same problem. I have other websites/servers that I do work on and am NOT having the same problems with them. The only problem I’m having is withy my HostGator accounts.

I’ve contacted Customer Support via AOL (gatorsupport3). I was told last night that “the admins are looking into it”. This afternoon I contacted gatorsupport3 again and he acted like he did not know what I was talking about. He then proceeded to tell me it was working fine for him. Great…I’m happy for him…..but it’s NOT working for me and I’m the one paying for it. He again told me it was working fine…and I told him it was NOT working for me. He then sends me a file that he had created on my server. Whoppee…it works for him….but it still DOES NOT work for me.

Obviously, gatorsupport3 is not interested in assisting me. That dissapoints me because I had heard such good things about HostGator and up until this problem, I’ve really not had any other issues.

I hope another customer support person will see this message and look into the problem and try and assist me. I have two current folks that I’ve set up to resell to and have another potential one; however, I need to be able to have FTP access…for their accounts and for my own!

I have a web site hosted by HostGator at a semi-dedicated server. Last week, my site received a DoS attack two times and HostGator helped me very fast!

Been with Hostgator since December as a reseller.

To start with things looked very good, one of my 1st and best experiences was on sign up.. I was placed on a server in Texas when I has assumed I would be hosted at NAC (in NJ). This may seem strange but response times make a difference my ISP (CPRM.NET) holds around 60-80% of the Internet market in my country and has peering with NAC.

I wasnt made aware there had been a change till I noticed slower response times.. and the dissapearance of Urchin.

Some time back (im sure its here in the forums) hostgator told us that urchin would only continue to be available on machines that already had it.. mine was one of them. The hosting packages I made up to resell had Urchin as a selling point.. not to mention the placement at NAC.

Hostgator must understand (especialy as far as resellers are concerned) that some sort of relationship must exist in terms of information exchange when changes like this are undertaken.

Anyways, as the subject says I find this quite dissapointing, especially considering my great impression of hostgator previous to this.
