Reviewed on April 30th, 2004 Find moreI’ve been browsing through the recent posts and thought this would be a good time to give my quick thoughts on the past 8 months as a Hostgator reseller.
There have been some posts as of late which have been questioning the courtesy and patience of the support team at Hostgator. Overall, I have to mildly agree with the posts that claim the support is brief and rude (sometimes). HOWEVER, I don’t pay to have a bunch of a** kissers on the other end. As long as they know their stuff and can keep me and my clients up and running 99% of the time, I’ll stay here forever. But, as one of the Gator techs said in another post, there is MUCH room for improvement on the customer care end. I have had several conversations with techs that have blamed the end-user with no explanation. This is fine, but a thorough explanation of the reason why it’s the end-users fault is required. I understand (being in the webdesign and computer services field) that frequently it’s a “user-error”, but the same message can be delivered in a more customer-focused manner.
That being said, I love Hostgator. These guys really know their stuff and respond pretty fast normally – sometimes a ticket can slip through the cracks, but there are so many ways to get a hold of these guys.
My website has NEVER been down. My email has been down once – temporarily. That is in EIGHT months. Not bad. I’m impressed.
So, I was trying to keep this “fair and balanced” so that potential clients can see the big picture. If I had to do it again, I’d go with Hostgator – no questions asked.

I must say that Support, Uptime, and services offered have been excellent. Although we thought of hostgator as our transition period reseller solution, now we are agreed that whenever we move to a dedicated server, it will definitely be through hostgator. Not because we might not be able to do it ourselves or hire somebody to do it for us – but because they are the best in what they do. Amazing feat hostgator.
As a side note. Out of pure interest i would really like to know the extent of your services as of now – like how many hosting, resellers, dedicated Servers etc. Maybe post that on your main page.
I hope ya’ll stay the same and we can have a long professional relation.

Host Gator management realizes that a properly managed Support Forum is crucial to the day-to-day operations of its business, and regretfully acknowledges that the level of participation within these forums by members of the HG staff has been progessively dipping towards the low end of the spectrum.

Hostgator Review by NewGuy – Host Gator Support leaves MUCH to be desired
Reviewed on April 19th, 2004 Find moreI’m not going to remove my original comments because I think they need to be read. But I wanted to post a brief update. I am more than satisfied with the quality of service and support I have been receiving after this incident. The main reason I came to HG was because of the rave reviewsI had been reading online, so I will chalk up my initial bad experience as the exception rather than the rule.
I had a pretty bad attitude in this thread, and I know of many hosts that would just tell me to go pound sand and take my business elsewhere. That wasn’t the case here. I was personally contacted by the owner and we must have talked for an hour about my situation. After that chat, I honestly felt like HG cared about my situation and not just my money.
So if you read this thread, please keep the above comments in mind. If HG can impress someone as angry as I was and get me to stick around, I’d say that’s a good thing.

Hostgator Review by jmgb – First Reseller, now I can offer what my other hosts offered
Reviewed on April 8th, 2004 Find moreI have been up with hostgator for about a month now, and I calculate converting $300 (investment) to $2000 yearly, and my plans are really competitive. My customers have doubled since I offer hosting, and working with hostgator has been every time a good expirience. I have never found the support offline, and Lea always does a good work answering the stupid questions I have. About speed?, no problems… just check the ping, the speed is THE BEST… The only downtime I have suffered, was resolved in 2 minutes. EXTREMELY RECOMMEND HOSTGATOR.
