Hostgator Review by HaventBeenPaid – Hostgator Affiliates Does Not Pay
Reviewed on August 8th, 2010 Find moreAccording to the Hostgator Affiliate Agreement:
“Your commissions are paid on the last week of each month following the first 60 days after the sale. The registered account must also be currently active and paid up to date at the time of payout, and there is no minimum balance limit to reach before you are paid.
For example, if you made one sale in January, you will be paid your $50 commission the last week of March. If you continue to make regular sales each month afterward, then expect to be paid on the last week of every month (after your first commission payment).”
I have an active, paid, legitimate referral that signed up on May 08, 2010. It has been over 80 days and I have not received a payment. This is really awful because I have several other referrals that I got in the past two months, and I doubt I’m going to be paid for them either. I’m going to stop promoting Hostgator for now. Hopefully they’ll actually pay me like they said they would.

Hostgator Review by jv63 – Very pleased with support
Reviewed on August 2nd, 2010 Find moreI’ve been a customer for 2+ years and all that time I’ve been on shared hosting. It was time to move up a bit and took the plunge into VPS.
The staff at hostgator made the move smooth in terms of moving my sites and providing me online tutorials for various functions of managing my VPS account.
Even when I wanted to do some extra moving around of my sites to a different account within my VPS account the staff was very accomodating.
Then when I had some load time issue with all my sites and the team at Hostgator discovered the problem and am happy to say my sites are currently running smoothly and loading quickly. That makes me very happy
Great thing about Hostgator VPS is that it can grow as my business grows and they offer enough options that it doesn’t have to be a big jump to the next level that it costs a fortune just to upgrade.
The best feature, among many, about Hostgator hosting is the 24/7 support. I’ve been in some binds over the years at odd hours and they’ve come through every time.
Always polite and quick to respond, the support team is a shining star in a day of bad customer service.
Keep up the good work and you’ll continue to have a customer for a long time…. as long as my sites are making me money that is

Hostgator Review by falsetigerlimbs – Great host, great customer service
Reviewed on July 31st, 2010 Find moreI’ve tried many different shared hosts over the years, the most recent being made2own, which I had to switch from because they refused to admit to the amount of downtime my site was having; my site was noticeably down for 30 minutes or more each day, which is about 2% downtime, but they insisted they had less than that.
As soon as I switched to Hostgator, I had no noticeable downtime. That’s not to say there isn’t any – I’m sure there has to be some – but it must be a tiny percentage. This is the reason I say Hostgator’s a great host, because downtime is very important to me. The server I’m on is also faster than any I’ve been on before, and it’s amazing that I have “unlimited” bandwidth.
As far as customer service goes, I am always amazed at how quickly my tickets get responded to. Sometimes I’ll get a response in less than five minutes! And also, I’ve never had a response that was too short or irrelevant. They always seem to know what they’re talking about and are able to fix my problem.
I currently have two shared hosting packages – both just Baby ones – and 3 domains hosted. I plan to use Hostgator for all future websites I may create, as well as recommend Hostgator to anyone who needs a host. Hostgator is by far the best host I have used, and I have used at least six different hosts since 2002, which may not be a lot in comparison to others, but it seems like a lot to me.
If you’re reading this and are debating whether or not to use Hostgator, I really recommend you at least give them a try. I’m sure you won’t regret it!

Hostgator Review by SandyFish – HostGator ROCKS!
Reviewed on July 29th, 2010 Find moreGoing into my third year with HG
I started with a Baby and worked up to a Reseller account. I have NO formal training in ANYTHING web related. HostGator support AND peer support via the forum is hands down THE BEST. I have tried others and still do help friends with other hosting & ALWAYS say – “You need to switch to HostGator”.

Hostgator Review by kiramanic – Gratuitous happy customer review
Reviewed on July 28th, 2010 Find moreI’ve been a Hostgator customer for over 3 years now, and have multiple sites hosted with you. After running out of people to talk at about how great you are, I thought it was about time I tried it here.
When I first signed up, I was learning to build websites as a hobby and after looking around a few hosting companies decided on Hostgator mainly based on price and some quick googling for reviews. I had no clue what else to look for.
After getting my first site online, with gratuitous use of the extremely helpful knowledge base, friends who knew more about these things than me commented on how rarely the site went down. This was my first clue that I’d gotten extremely lucky!
These days my website hobby has turned into a business and I’m forever dealing with terrible hosts on behalf of clients. From unusable documentation to hosts with no support forum(!), I’ve seen a lot of things to make me love Hostgator that little bit extra.
I’ve used both email and live chat support over the years, both of which are always answered quickly and courteously. My requests have ranged from the simple to the not-so-simple (at least for a newbie) and I’ve never been made to feel that I’m wasting anyones time with the former or putting anyone out with the latter.
Using your Twitter account to keep us updated on outages or other news is a great personal touch that many companies lack, and your company blog is always interesting, often amusing. These relatively small touches really make a huge difference to the customer experience, and I’m glad you guys realise that.
Ok I just realised how much I’ve written so I’ll wrap it up with this:
I’ve been with you from the tentative newbie without a clue, to the much-more confident website “pro”, and you’ve never let me down. I would (and do) highly recommend you to everyone I know, sometimes even after they’ve told me to stop. Don’t change, and I’ll be a customer for a loooong time yet.

Hostgator Review by Tarosic – Level 3 VPS with cPanel? Awesome!
Reviewed on July 27th, 2010 Find moreAnyone who says that a Hostgator level 3 VPS with cPanel isn’t capable of handling a large amount of traffic needs to get their eyes checked.
I moved this site here from Dreamhost after they kept moving it around, and shutting it down every time it got a large amount of incoming visitors. Since moving to Hostgator, I haven’t had a minute of downtime, and on this VPS, it’s been nothing but smooth sailing, even through the 1 million hits I got last Tuesday.

Hostgator Review by imfritz – Happy new customer
Reviewed on July 26th, 2010 Find moreI just switched to Hostgator from another host. My experience with my old host was bad: many restrictions in the Terms of Service regarding file size, script executions, cpu usage. But even worse was the customer service. No option of live or phone chat. The ticketing system was convoluted, and when you finally reached an agent through a ticket, the most common response (after several unresponsive emails) was to link you to some unhelpful FAQ page from the knowledge base or tell you that the host doesn’t support your problem.
Hostgator has been a relief in every way possible. Last weekend I had problem on my Joomla-based site involving an extension that wasn’t properly exporting data to Excel. (Ironically, the same extension had worked properly at my old host). I asked Hostgator customer service for help, thinking that the problem must have had something to do with their servers. The agent examined the servers to see if their was something wrong on Hostgators end, then researched the peer forums of the Joomla extension, found a solution, implemented it, and verified with me that it worked, all in a day.
