Reviewed on February 13th, 2010 Find moreI’ve had a good year with HG. My reseller account has been rock solid. The only real “outage” was one just recently that affected multiple servers, about 30 minutes.
Performance has been great, support has been most excellent and several times, went beyond what was necessary in order to help. More recently and specifically, Christopher D.
Thanks HG for getting my server needs stable and thanks for a trouble free year.

I have been in countless chats and a very long ticket for a simple request…
Ticket ID: BFI-12988783
My requirement: To have a FTPES Server with a signed certificate (on its own IP so you don’t need to have the @ to login)
I have the FTPES server for our domain setup nicely, it logs you in without a @domain and works perfectly. So I put in a ticket to get the Cert signed and put in that I want it on x.x.x.179 IP address.
A certificate is “installed”. Still get a warning, I’m told the cert is for 178 not 179. When in talks, apparently because its not a web service the IP is irrelevant (I find this hard to believe but anyway).
So to make is work HG changed my DNS so the domain pointed at x.x.x.178. Ok great thanks for breaking our FTP service for all out users over the weekend…
I’m pretty sure (but not certain) that the reason the cert doesn’t work is it was bought for the wrong IP address… A “supervisior” has looked at my ticket and fed my some information which I am annoyed about:
“In order for the SSL to work with ftpes the domain name ***** has to be pointed to .178 unfortunately there is no way around this and the only way to then login would be to use user@domain.com as the ftp username. This is now working and accepting the SSL when you login to ftp that way.”
I need a technical reason if this is true (which I beg to differ) PLUS if this is true, cancel the SSL and we will move the Dedicated servers we have to a new provider as this is ridiculous that you can’t do this!

Hostgator Review by jjbond – I’m done, proof of HG hosting Spammers & Phishers using my email addy, cost me $
Reviewed on February 7th, 2010 Find more4 years of non stop spam and in fact ever increasing in amount. My email address being sent all over the internet by their spam/phish servers (evidence below in the 1st of 3 images), causing my company name and my personal name to be blacklisted, having my company and personal name thrashed to an ever higher level due to Spammers and Phishers LOCATED ON HOSTGATOR servers using my email address, lost emails, no customer support and when it does come, instead of them believing the email I show them from the agency that blocks hosting companies ISP’s for rule violations specifically stating “You were banned because you are located on the same server as a company who was phishing and stealing credit card numbers from a bank” (see below)… lost emails, lost revenue, showed that email to Hostgator Support trying to get my email turned back on and their response…”you should turn on anti spam software”…. like that’s going to stop their criminals on the same server as I am from sending emails causing HUNDREDS of people to get emails from my email address looking or credit card information…
I’m taking my business (what’s left of it) elsewhere.. can anyone recommend a good hosting company that does NOT host Spammers and Phishers and when they realize one slipped on, actually acts on it, not just blows smoke up the butts of their long time reputable business customers with ridiculous answers that have nothing to do with the problem. As an ex Microsoft employee who was developing software in the web server environment before most of these support desk people had finished school, I don’t appreciate being played a fool with those lame responses and I am seriously considering legal action under a class action lawsuit. There are heaps of people who have lost money and business due to Hostgators allegiance to the criminal elements as evidenced in the email below… I don’t appreciate my name being ruined for that allegiance.
If anyone knows a good hosting company with some ethics, I’d love to hear about it.

Note: Right up till a moment ago, I was told I should “have a cup of coffee and put on my spam filtering”… so that I don’t hear about any more emails sent using my email address I assume… wow…. unreal…posts below… I’m off to look for a new hosting company.

I was very impressed with the ability to reach someone IMMEDIATELY to help me. They were very professional and John actually got an Admin involved to help as well.

Reviewed on February 6th, 2010 Find more7 Years ago I was shopping for a new host for 5 websites I owned and could not find a decent one until I found Host Gator by accident one day. I moved my accounts here and over the last 7 years I am down to only 2 domains, but they are still here on Host Gator and still running strong.
For the very rare problems I have had over the years, I have never had a problem getting through to anyone to help. Even when calling in the middle of the night on a weekend! The people are knowledgeable and friendly, and have always been able to get problems resolved fast.
The prices are great, the service is awesome and the includes are more than I ever really needed, but nice to have for future developments. Keep up the great work, you guys rock!

I have been with Hostgator for many years now and my experience has been more than satisfactory. It’s been great ! A few years back the systems were down and I was actually able to speak with a Hostgator person via telephone all the way from Australia. They answered the phone during Sydney day time and the issue was resolved.
I actually spoke to someone during crazy hours in the US of A.
Since then I have had many questions about setups and I have always received super prompt responses either via On-Line Chat or via email.
They are probably not the cheapest if you shop around but you get more ‘bang for your buck’ than any where else. You get what you pay for as the old addage goes.
If business continuity is your number 1 priority then for a $5 to $10 dollars saving per month why would you risk the great service you can receive from Hostgator.
