Since I have moved away from Squarespace and wanted to get back into the game of WordPress, I’ve tried and tested many web hosts and have found I’ve either;1) Moved away from them because they were too expensive;
2) Their customer service and support was appalling;
3) Their servers didn’t handle the load I was making them handle and kept crashing, or;
4) They didn’t offer the service(s) I needed to run my website(s).

This is my third host and I haven’t even felt a twinge of that sinking-feeling-what-have-I-done that I felt within a day or so of the other hosts. I have learned so much just from the forums and tutorials! So, thank you to all! I look forward to learning and building my business with you!

Hostgator Review by roman2 – FTP server(s) ha(s/ve) been malfunctioning
Reviewed on August 15th, 2010 Find moreI’ve been experiencing problems with FTP servers on Hostgator servers lately (for weeks, I’d say). On more than one account. Problems retrieving file lists, slow connection, etc. I am not the only one who has experienced this. Please fix this! HostGator’s FTP servers used to be lightening fast, but now they are like those of GoDaddy’s (sucky).

I started to have problems with my server.
After waiting for sometime 2days for a response, their only response was “Sorry, but this is an un-managed server, we cannot help you today. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you.”
I found this infuriating and funny at the same time.
Now with HostGator I get a responce in almost no more than 10 mins. And everything is taken care of.

Reviewed on August 13th, 2010 Find moreI’ve been a HostGator customer for about six weeks now. I moved about 10 sites over to HostGator. It’s a significant project to move everything from one hosting service to another. I’d been using a major hosting company for seven years and another one for four years. I don’t have anything negative to say about either company.
So then, why am I making the change? First, I heard good things about HostGator, and I wanted to consolidate everything. Secondly, the HostGator package is solid and has more to offer. Lastly, and most important of all, is the richness of their customer support. I can get customer support when I want it, how I want it — chat, email, phone. When I have a problem, I don’t want to wait. I want it fixed right now. I want to feel resolution now.
I’ve contacted HostGator support several times by chat and phone. I get connected very quickly. Although my experience with the staff is that some of the reps are more knowledgeable than others, every rep has been patient, positive and professional. It’s fair to say that HostGator may have the most complete and responsive customer support system I’ve ever experienced. HostGator gets what most companies don’t seem to understand. And I don’t mean just hosting companies. I mean all companies. Invest in customer support instead of shrinking it.
By investing in customer support, HostGator knows that if you serve your customers well, they will automatically tell everyone they know. I certainly I will. Kudos go to HostGator!
